From 2020, Uber quietly started making changes to its systems to make driver pay dynamic.
Behind the promise of “fairer” pricing, this system quietly shifted risk onto drivers while enabling Uber to increase its hidden commission — in some cases taking nearly half of the fare. Before the introduction of Dynamic Pay, driver earnings were calculated transparently, based on fixed per-minute and per-kilometer/mile rates, with Uber’s commission set at 25%. When a driver accepted a job under this model, they had a clear and consistent understanding of how their pay for that trip was determined.
After the introduction of Dynamic Pay, driver pay and work allocation became variable, non-transparent and determined in real time by Uber’s algorithm.
Research by Oxford University and Worker Info Exchange, based on 1.5 million trips, shows falling driver pay, increased unpaid waiting time, and growing inequality, with most drivers earning less while Uber profits more. Stichting WIE International has launched the Dynamic Pay Claim under Dutch WAMCA law to challenge this system, expose its impact, and seek remedies for affected drivers.

Stichting WIE International has launched the Dynamic Pay Claim to force Uber to stop using the Dynamic Pay system. The foundation also wants to enforce transparency regarding the use and training of the underlying algorithms as well as secure compensation for drivers who have suffered damages as a result of Dynamic Pay. Stichting WIE International is also fighting for drivers whose personal data was unlawfully transferred to the United States by Uber between 2021 and September 2023. This claim aims to achieve greater fairness and transparency for all drivers involved.
This court action is taking place in the Netherlands under the WAMCA collective procedure on behalf of drivers who have driven for Uber at any time after November 2020. At the moment, Stichting WIE International is focusing on drivers from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom who have driven for Uber at any time after November 2020.
