When we say at Alpha Waters that our water goes the extra mile, we also mean that for the bottle it comes in. Made from 100% recyclable materials and designed to be recycled again, Alpha Waters’ bottles have the potential to stay in circulation, not in the landfill. Drink up, recycle, and help us keep plastic moving in the right direction.
The Recycling Process
Giving plastic bottles new life requires several steps. To begin, the used bottles must be gathered up from homes, offices, schools, and other locations where they were originally used. Employees go around collecting them by hand or with trucks.
After collection, the plastic bottles have to be sorted and separated. Sorting happens according to the specific type of plastic used. After that, the bottles are thoroughly cleaned to remove any remaining contents. This prepares them for the next major step – shredding.
The bottles go into giant shredders that chop them into tiny flakes. It’s these flakes that get melted down and turned into pellets. These pellets get packaged and sold to manufacturers, where they become building blocks used to manufacture new plastic products. Your water bottle, kitchen spatula, computer monitor casing and laundry basket are just some of the many household items that may contain recycled plastic pellets.
Saving Energy and Lowering Carbon Emissions
Recycling plastic consumes less energy than producing brand new plastic. The lower energy needs also decrease greenhouse gas emissions, supporting climate change mitigation efforts.
Resource Efficiency
New plastic relies on raw materials like oil and coal, but we don’t need to keep digging up more when we can reuse what’s already here. Recycling keeps resources in play instead of throwing them away.
Keeping Wildlife Safe
Every bottle that gets recycled is one less floating in the ocean or tangled in forests. Less plastic waste means fewer risks to animals and a healthier environment all around.
Making Landfills Less Crowded Landfills don’t have unlimited space. Recycling plastic bottles means they get repurposed instead of taking up room that could be used for non-recyclable waste.
Closing the Waste Loop
A throwaway culture leads to waste, but a recycling system keeps materials in circulation. The more we reuse, the less we need to toss.
Giving Plastic a Second (or Third) Life Recycled plastic stays useful far longer than most people realise. Instead of being single-use, it can keep coming back in different forms, reducing the need for new production.
